One of the main objectives of “Am haZikaron” is to convey interest in the lives of our ancestors. We believe that the inseparability of our destinies from the destinies of our ancestors is the secret to the survival of our people. In this regard, our YouTube channel is dedicated to Jewish history and what is related to it.
“Am haZikaron” in English – this section presents our materials for the English-speaking audience.

The Jewish pogroms in Russia 1918-1921
The tragedy of the Holocaust is preserved in the cultural memory of humanity. But few people remember that the horror of the Holocaust was preceded by an equally terrible tragedy. Inhuman torments fell on people guilty only of the misfortune of being born Jewish in Russia.

The Generations workshop
The Project is a unique interactive educational workshop worked out and implemented by the Am haZikaron Institute with the support of the Genesis Philanthropy Group. The workshop immerses young Jews into the atmosphere of the history of our Nation to let them experience this history vividly and feel personal connection to the destiny of the Jewish People. The personal appeal is achieved by telling more about the origins and the history of the participants’ own family. Today the workshop participants are mainly young people who visit Israel within Taglit-Birthright program.
Common Roots of Jews and Spartans
In a recent statement, Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu suggested that Israel may soon have to become like Sparta. Could the Jewish people manifest the traits for which the Spartans are known—uncompromising resolve and the unity to defend their land? If we assume that relatives share common traits, then the answer… is yes!
The First Book of Maccabees speaks of a Spartan genealogical document proving that the Jews and the Spartans are brother-peoples, descended from a common forefather: Abraham. This video from “Am haZikaron” explores this little-known historical fact and the attempts to explain it.
