The Sefer ha-Dorot (Book of Generations) project is an educational program of the Am haZikaron Institute created for young Jews who are interested in learning about their family history.

The goal of the project is to restore the emotional connection between young people and their ancestors, to strengthen their Jewish identity and their awareness of belonging to the Jewish state – a place where many generations of their predecessors dreamed of being.

The project creates a platform for the realization of individual family history research. Project activities strengthen intergenerational ties and encourage the transmission of family values and traditions.

Program participants’ individual research is supervised by the Am haZikaron Institute’s leading experts, who help give depth to family research and connect it to the historical context of the Jewish people.

The project’s mission is to preserve family memory and reconnect participating families with the history and heritage of the Jewish clans to which they belong.

The project is supported by the Office of the Prime Minister of Israel and takes place at Israeli Cultural Centers in major Jewish communities in Russia and Ukraine.
