The first volume of the Book of Fates we published was a rare success. We thank everyone who participated in our literary contest of memoirs of Jewish families. Due to the numerous responses, we have decided to continue the successful endeavor.

The Am HaZikaron Institute preserves national memory and invites you to share your story of what you went through during the events of October 7, 2023 irrespective of where you were.

We are still inside those events; it has not yet become history. But when experiences are put into words, it helps to let go of the pain and, most importantly, to keep the memory alive. So that other people can hear and understand, so that nothing is forgotten.
We all have our own October 7th. Where were you that day? How did the morning begin? How did you know what was happening? What did you see and feel around you – in your home, in messages and conversations? What moments stick in your memory?
These should not be the stories of those (or about those) who were directly in the invasion zone, or of heroic deeds (although such testimonies will also be included in the book). We want to hear the stories of how each of us experienced that day.

What needs to be done?

  • Write a short story of no more than one A4 page. The preferred language is Russian; if you write in English, you entitle us to translate.
(Submissions larger than this will not be considered.)
  • Tell us what the day 7.10.23 was like for you – anything memorable and anything you think deserves to be told.
  • Email the file in Word format to:
    amhazikaron1998@gmail.com by January 15, 2026.

The best fifty stories according to the editorial committee will be included in the book.

Your story will become a page in the book
we are creating together –
the book of our experiences and hopes.

We look forward to hearing your stories!
